Gator Wrestling

So an Oklahoma defensive player runs his mouth about their upcoming opponent in the National Title Game.  No surprise, but OU corner Dominique Franks should be careful about poking a Gator.  Franks, who played on a defense that has given up at least 21 points in 8 straight games en route to finishing 63rd in total defense, had had enough of the questions as to how OU will be able to stop Time Tebow and Florida.

"The three best receivers in the country came from the Big 12. The three best tight ends came from the Big 12. So we've faced some great offenses, and a lot of people don't understand that other conferences don't have what we face."

Maybe not, but that did not stop fellow Big 12 team Texas Tech from giving up 47 points to SEC opponent Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl, so many Big 12 defenses are just average.

Franks also said that Tebow is no better than the fourth best QB in the nation, and that OU will prove that Sam Bradford deserved to win the Heisman.

Not the most scathing of words for an opponent, but OU has a recent history with their players giving an opponent bulletin board material. In the days before the 2005 National Championship Game, OU DE Larry Birdine referred to their Orange Bowl opponents as "average" while also making comments about the opposing QB.

So what happened? Eh, the "average" USC Trojans hung up 55 points on the OU defense, walking away with a 36 point win as Matt Leinart threw for 332 yards and 5 TDs.

Franks may become the most hated man in Sooner nation.
