Coach's Corner-Gray-NG Field Hockey/Girls' Soccer

Field Hockey-9/12/09-Gray-NG falls in OT 3-2

Varsity lost a tough game to Freeport in overtime 3-2. Freeport scored in the first 3 minutes of the game. G-NG's Breanna Harlow tied the game, scoring on a penalty corner, with 14 minutes remaining in the first half. Freeport then scored again with 8 minutes remaining in the second half. G-NG's Kaitlyn Johnston scored a goal with approximately 30 seconds remaining in regulation time to again tie the game - extremely exciting and intense!! The game then went into overtime, and Freeport scored with 5:49 remaining.

The Junior Varsity team also played a great game. The game was scoreless at halftime. Then Freeport scored early in the second half. G-NG's Megan Lafontaine tied the game. The final score was 1-1 tie.

9/15/09-Gray-NG beat Traip 5-0.

  • Laura Hagelin scored our first goal only 20 seconds into the game! Other 1st half goals were:
  • Laura Hagelin (her 2nd goal of the game) with an assist by Breanna Harlow
  • Molly Grannell with an assist from Laura Hagelin
  • Jenna Labrecque with an assist from Breanna Harlow
  • The 2nd half goal was scored by Laura Hagelin (her 3rd goal of the game)
  • Goal Keeper Megan Trafford had 5 saves for G-NG.

During the JV game, our team started the scoring with a goal by Ashley Rice. However, Traip followed Ashley's goal with two of their own. The final score of the JV game was Traip 2, G-NG 1.

Gray-NG's Field Hockey team is now 4-3 on the year.

Girls' Soccer

9/19, Homecoming-Lady Patriots fall 2-1 in OT.

The game against Sacopee Valley was a good match. Sacopee scored early in the first half. The Patriots worked hard with multiple shots but couldn't penetrate the defense until the second half. Taylor Darnell had a break away and scored for the Patriots sending the game into overtime. Sacopee eventually scored with 1 minute 17 seconds left in the over time to give them the victory.

9/21/09

The lady Patriots faced Waynflete. Waynflete took off with a quick 2 -0 lead in the first half. The Lady Patriots held them for the remainder of the first half. Waynflete scored 2 more in the second half giving them a 4-0 victory over the Lady Patriots.

The Junior Varsity girls started the game out strong. Lindsey Nunley scored with a pass from Robin Pelkey. The Patriots spent most of the time on Waynflete's end of the field. Karen Sutherland came up with a goal on a pass from Lizzy Allen. Later on in the second half Lizzy scored giving the Junior Varsity Patriots a 3-0 victory.
