Colby's Mack Named NESCAC Player of the Week (Women's)

Colby College sophomore forward Rachael Mack (Cony/Augusta, Maine) picked a good time to have one of the best weeks of her young collegiate career and Monday earned the New England Small College Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor.

Mack averaged 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.0 blocked shots as Colby took to the road and went 3-0 in wins over University of Southern Maine (64-54), Williams College (74-68, OT), and Middlebury College (63-54). She also shot 56 percent (14-for-25) from the field and 86 percent (12-for-14) from the foul line. Mack had 14 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks in the Middlebury victory. She added 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks in the overtime win against Williams and started the week with 11 points, six boards and two blocks against Southern Maine.

Mack hit the game tying basket with one second left in regulation to send the game to overtime against Williams. With Colby trailing 63-62 in overtime, Mack scored four straight points to give the Mules the lead for good at 66-63. She leads Colby in field goal percentage (.484), free throw percentage (.841), total blocked shots (35) and is second in both scoring (9.9) and rebounding (6.8).

In the latest NESCAC statistics, Mack is third in free throw percentage, fourth in blocked shots (1.67 per game), fifth in field goal percentage, and seventh in rebounding.

Mack, who has 475 points and 327 rebounds in her short career at Colby, and the Mules play host to Thomas College on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
