NAVA HITS A GRAND SLAM ON THE 1ST PITCH HE SEES

Former Portland Sea Dogs OF Daniel Nava competed his journey to the big leagues yesterday in the most spectacular way possible. Nava came up in the 2nd inning with the bases loaded and hit the 1st pitch he saw into the Red Sox bullpen for a grand slam. He is the 2nd MLBer to ever do that, Kevin Kouzmanoff being the other. Oh yeah they played a game, the Sox beat up on the Phillies for an 10-2 win.

The Red Sox announced at game time that Dice K was being placed on the 15 day DL with a right forearm strain. The corresponding roster move was to recall former Sea Dogs pitcher Dustin Richardson from AAA Pawtucket.
