Waldoboro natives come up big for UMF

University of Maine at Farmington sophomore pitcher Dale Winchenbach (Waldoboro, Maine; pictured left) and freshman infielder/pitcher Alex Goldrup (Waldoboro, Maine; pictured right) were honored by the North Eastern Athletic Conference this morning.

Winchenbach was named the NEAC East Pitcher of the Week, while Goldrup was feted as the NEAC East Rookie of the Week

Winchenbach took a tough no-decision in a 3-2 11-inning loss at St. Joseph's (Me.) Thursday. The sophomore hurled 8.1 innings in the start, scattering six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.

Goldrup batted a team-best .375 (3-8) in a pair of losses for the Beavers. The freshman doubled and scored a run in the week.

This is the first time this season that Farmington baseball players have earned NEAC East recognition.

The Beavers (0-9) are scheduled to visit Castleton State College for their NEAC East opening doubleheader Saturday. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
