Sun Media Group announced today it has secured online streaming rights to the 2012 Maine boys high school hockey tournament from the Maine Principal’s Association.
Sun Media will live stream the state Class A semi-finals of March 6 and the state Class A and Class B championship games of March 10. The streams will be available, for free, on sunjournal.com and theforecaster.net.
Rob Munzing, of Munzing Media of Gardiner, will provide the camera work for the games. Veteran Maine play-by-play announcer Rob Kennedy will call the games with Sun Media sports staffers Justin Pelletier and Mike Hoffer providing color commentary.
“This team has put together tremendous online hockey broadcasts all season during our regular Hockey Night streams,” said Anthony Ronzio, New Media Director for Sun Media Group. “We’re proud to have this team stream the state tournament as well and thank the Maine Principals’ Association for working with us to make it possible.”
Michael Burnham, assistant executive director of the MPA, said the organization is ”excited to be able to partner with Sun Media and provide video streaming of the upcoming MPA ice hockey tournament.”
“As the statewide leader in live streaming of high school and college athletics in Maine, Munzing Media is proud to provide its services to Sun Media for the hockey tournament,” said Rob Munzing.
Sun Media has broadcast live games from the Androscoggin Bank Colisee since December, drawing thousands of new viewers to Maine high school hockey. Oxford Networks has donated the high-speed Internet connection needed for the streams, Ronzio noted.

It publishes the Sun Journal, The Forecaster, the Bethel Citizen, Norway Advertiser-Democrat, the Rumford Falls Times, the Franklin Journal, the Livermore Falls Advertiser, the Rangeley Highlander and Penobscot Times, as well as Mainehomeseller.net, My Job Wave and myjobwave.com.
