WJAB 96.3 LISTENERS TO SELECT
RED CLAWS PA ANNOUNCER

Open Auditions to Be Held July 25 at Expo

PORTLAND, ME –The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they will partner with WJAB 96.3 FM, The Big Jab, to select the PA Announcer for their inaugural season. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.

The Red Claws will hold open auditions on Saturday, July 25 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Portland Expo Building. Contestants will be judged on voice quality, game knowledge, creativity and the ability to follow a script. Three finalists will be selected on July 25, and those finalists will be invited on-air with the voice of the Maine Red Claws, Chris Sedenka, host of the PM Jab on Big Jab 96.3 FM, for one final audition. Big Jab listeners will then make the final decision with an online vote on The Big Jab's Website. The Big Jab is the flagship station of the Maine Red Claws.

Contestants interested in auditioning can contact the Red Claws’ office at 207-210-6655 for further information. Anyone unable to attend the July 25 open auditions may submit an audition tape. Tapes should be mailed to the Red Claws at PO Box 15180, Portland, ME 04112 or dropped off at the team’s offices located at 413 Congress Street in Portland. All tapes must be received no later than 5 PM on Friday, July 24.


Mascot Tryouts to Be Held July 25 at Expo

PORTLAND, ME –The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they will hold open auditions for game night positions, including team mascot, on Saturday, July 25 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the Portland Expo Building. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.

Mascot contestants will be judged on tumbling ability/acrobatics, crowd interactivity and the ability to work with props. The mascot must be able to get along with people of all ages but especially children. Unlike mascots in other sports, basketball mascots must be able to perform acrobatics and tricks on court. No experience is necessary. The Red Claws mascot, Crusher, will be unveiled later this summer.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The Maine Red Claws Dance Team, presented by Sun Tan City, will serve as volunteers during the Urban Epic Triathlon this weekend in Portland, kicking off the Aqua Run (ages 7-13) and running in the Fun Run (ages 4-6) to make sure that all of the young competitors cross the finish line safely. Proceeds from the Kids Race will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine. The team will also have a booth at the Urban Epic Triathlon.

Sunday, July 19 – TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway: Members of the Maine Red Claws Dance Team, presented by Sun Tan City, will join the Red Claws staff in manning a booth and greeting race fans at the TD Banknorth 250 this weekend. The race will feature NASCAR legend Rusty Wallace as grand marshal while Steve Wallace and Kenny Wallace will compete in the race.

July 23 – Spend An Evening with Dick Enberg: The Red Claws have partnered with the Portland Stage Company as they present Dick Enberg’s one-man play McGuire for three shows on July 23-25. Red Claws’ season ticket holders who attend the July 23 premiere will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive after-show cocktail party hosted by the renowned sportscaster and multi-Emmy award winner.

August 17-21 – Maine Red Claws Basketball Camps: The Maine Red Claws will hold their inaugural Junior Red Claws Basketball Camp and Maine Red Claws Basketball Academy on August 17-21. The day camps will be coached by Red Claws coaching staff and feature an appearance by special guest K.C. Jones. Call 210-6655 for more information.
