Red Claws to Announce "3 Points for Strive"

S. PORTLAND, ME – STRIVE will partner with Maine’s newest professional sports team, the Maine Red Claws, through the program, 3 Points for STRIVE. The announcement was made today by STRIVE Program Director Peter Brown.

Hammond Lumber Company will be the title sponsor of the 3 Points for STRIVE program during the upcoming 2009-10 season and will make a $50 donation to STRIVE for every successful three pointer the Red Claws make during a home game this season. It is estimated that the program will raise $12,500 for STRIVE. Fans will also be able to make a donation for every 3 Point field goal made by Red Claws players during home games this year. Pledge cards will be available at all Hammond Lumber Company locations, the Maine Red Claws website- www.maineredclaws.com, and on STRIVE’s website- www.pslstrive.org.

“STRIVE is ecstatic to be the beneficiary of this partnership. 3 Points for STRIVE will not only raise much needed funds for our organization, but also publicize the difference we are making in our community,” said STRIVE Program Director Peter Brown. “We are proud to partner with two fine organizations - the Maine Red Claws and Hammond Lumber Company - in this program. This partnership will greatly assist us in our mission of providing social, educational, and employment training opportunities for teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.”

The Maine Red Claws are entering their first season in the NBA Development League, and will play 24 home games at the newly renovated Portland Expo Building.

“STRIVE offers services that are unique and very much needed in Maine, and the Red Claws are proud to be associated with an organization that makes such a profound difference in the lives of so many,” said Maine Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. “The Hammond Lumber Company has been a Maine institution for nearly half a century and has an impressive history of community service. We look forward to launching a successful program with them and raising much needed funds for STRIVE. We hope that the Maine Red Claws’ partnership with STRIVE and Hammond Lumber, through the 3 Points for STRIVE campaign, will allow STRIVE to further their efforts and helps to bring recognition to a tremendous program.”

Hammond Lumber Company, one of the largest building materials suppliers in New England, with locations in Auburn, Bangor, Belgrade, Fairfield, Farmington, Greenville, Portland and Skowhegan, will be the 2009-10 title sponsor for the program.
