Former #SeaDog Jorge Jimenez Headed to the Marlins

2009 Portland Sea Dogs player of the year Jorge Jimenez was selected by the Houston Astros in today's MLB Rule 5 draft. He will be traded to the Florida Marlins to complete the Matt Lindstrom deal from earlier this week.

Jimenez, who had a .366 OBP for the Sea dogs last season, played mostly third base for the Sea Dogs last season. He had 23 errors in 126 games, so his defense could improve, but he can also play first base if need be, so in the National League at the very least he could be valuable in the late innings. This much is clear, the Marlins thought enough of him to bring him up to the Majors without going to AAA (Rule 5 draftees have to stay on MLB roster all season or be sent back to his originating team).Do I think he will win an MVO? No, but he can be a very serviceable player in the big leagues. He was a good guy in the clubhouse, and he is wished the best from the CMSB.
