#Pirates Drop 3rd in a Row, Lose in Buffalo

Jeff Taffe netted the game winner with 65 second remaining in regulation as the Rochester Americans slipped past the Portland Pirates 3-2 in an American Hockey League game played today at HSBC Arena.

Victor Oreskovich and Mike York netted the other goals for the Americans, who won their fourth consecutive game to move to 37-26-2-0 on the season.

Travis Turnbull and Cody McCormick replied for the Pirates, losers of three straight. Portland is now 35-21-5-3 on the season.

Turnbull netted the only goal of the opening period to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead after one. Oreskovich and York provided the only offense in the second as the Amerks surged in front 2-1 after two. McCormick knotted things up early in the third with a power-play goal before Taffe netted what turned out to be the game winner.

The American out shot the Pirates 36-30 in the game as Jhonas Enroth took the loss.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game were 1. Taffe, 2. McCormick and 3. York.

The next Pirates home game takes place this Friday when the Manchester Monarchs visit the CCCC for a 7 p.m. start.
