The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have acquired guard Craig Winder from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers as part of a three-team deal. Rio Grande Valley will receive guard Kelvin Lewis from the Texas Legends who will receive Maine’s sixth round pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft. The NBA Development League trade deadline is today at 5 PM.
Winder, 26, spent three seasons with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers before joining the Adelaide 36ers (Australia-NBL) in 2010-11 where he averaged 10.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists in eight games. The well-travelled Texas grad also spent time with teams in Syria and Qatar last season.
A starter is his three seasons with the Vipers, Winder averaged 14.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.3 steals in 37 games with the team last year. He banked-in a three-pointer at the buzzer of Game 2 of the NBA Development League Finals to give the Vipers their first championship.
