Tiny Gallon traded

The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have acquired a second round pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft in exchange for rookie forward Tiny Gallon. The deal comes one day before the NBA Development League trade deadline.

“With the probable return of Stephane Lasme from injury next week, we felt Tiny deserved to go to a team that could provide more playing time,” said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. “We wish him the best of luck going forward.”

Lasme suffered a stress fracture in his foot requiring surgery during the team’s lone preseason game in November. A product of the University of Massachusetts, Lasme was the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, ranking first in the league in blocks and rebounding and second in field goal percentage. He joined the Red Claws as an Affiliated Player after attending the Boston Celtics 2010 training camp.

“Losing Stephane Lasme prior to the season was a blow to the team,” Jennings said. “That he is able to return to the court this season is a testament to his hard work and dedication to his rehab following surgery. We are excited at the prospect of seeing him in a Red Claws uniform again soon.”
